Coton De Tulear
Lhasa Apso, and Bichon Frise
We are located in the south east of Ireland, my show
partner (Bernadette) and I have a healthy interest in dogs. I have been
showing dogs from 1983 originally starting out with Rough Collies &
Shetland Sheepdogs and now showing Coton De Tulear, Bichon Frise and
Lhasa Apso. I enjoyed many successes with my dogs and got to know some
of the experts in these lines ant the time. They may not remember me now
after such a long time (I moved to the South of Ireland around 1998) But
I do remember them well and I thank all of them for their help.
Since moving to Ireland I got back into shows by accident, I entered
Bernadette's pet Bichon into an agricultural show and of course the
competitive bug struck again. I guess the memories and love of dogs
never leaves your heart. So here I am back into showing dogs along with
Bernadette, I have started showing these last 2 years and am enjoying
success at various levels. Of course everyone wants to top of the class
but - share and share alike it must be, otherwise we would never
see new faces last.
Coton De Tulear
I discovered this breed whilst looking through the IKC Breeds book and
the appeal was instant. I expect to make up a number of Champions this
year and going forward I have the task of ensuring quality of Coton De
Tulear in Ireland. I must consider a wide enough gene pool to ensure
that in 5 - 8 years that although many Coton De Tulear may have
originated from Clanlee, that those obtaining a new puppy from another
breeder will not be faced with a narrow gene pool and that future
breeders and exhibitors in Ireland have a healthy choice of gene pool
and pedigree to sustain and enhance the critical characteristics of the
breed.
